In extreme wintry conditions and with a lack of recognised forwards, East came up against a Mayfield side with four forwards on the bench to compliment the starting pack, which looked to contain one or two players from the First or Second Team. East gave a good account of themselves, never giving up and putting in some exciting attacking play pushing the big Mayfield side close on many occasions. East's lack of size was exacerbated by the departure early in the second half of Simon Reynolds with a dislocated shoulder. However the backs stepped up to the mark and played like they were twice their size with no fear. Final score was Mayfield 28 - East 10.
