By Simon Reynolds
East u18s ran riot on a glorious Sunday afternoon against a spirited Chorley outfit, scoring 13 tries but only converting 7.
The big win saw East progress in the North West Counties Cup.
Connor Eckersley opened the scoring down the left edge, 4-0. Brad Holroyd extended East lead and it was Brad Whelan who made the game 10-0 with only 15 minutes on the clock. East scored 3 more tries before half time. The first came from front row Callum Bailey who barged his way over from 15 meters.
Winger Callum Lewis then finished off a wide spread play from right to left and the final try of the half came from stand off Brad Whelan who spied his chance to go over. Two of the tries were converted by Holroyd and Whelan to finish a half that had East 26-0 in front.
Corey Hamer got the scoring underway in the 2nd half and Harrison Parker went 60 meters down the left flank, Whelan converted to make it 36-0. Whelan and Holroyd both scored their second tries in quick succession from close range and Holroyd kicked his 2nd conversion to make it 46-0.
East still weren't finished and added four more tries in the final quarter. Powerhouse forward James Fleming went over before Corey Hamer grabbed his second of the game. Harvey Massey and Ethan Fleming finished the scoring with nice tries. This sets up a massive game against Waterhead next week, which is a top of the table clash. Kick off is 1pm.
