Leigh East's penultimate National Conference Division Two league game saw them battle gamely after promoted Dewsbury Moor Maroons made the perfect start.

On a wet day, the hosts belied the conditions, opening their account after just five minutes through winger Jacob Flathers. They scored at regular intervals in the first twenty-five minutes to open a 22-0 advantage before much changed East fought back.

When it came, the response was good, Jay Yarwood, in at hooker burrowing through on the half hour after the visitors had gone close. Jamie Waters, who captained the side for the first time, set a good example with a hard-working performance while Chris Penn made a return to first team action and  Anthony Nicholls had the opportunity to play alongside elder brother Zac.

Ultimately though, East found their hosts too hot to handle and trailed 28-6 at half-time.

Two quick tries made it 38-6 early in the second half and although East continued to fight, a late scoring blitz took the hosts beyond fifty points.

In addition to Flathers' scores, Aiden Ineson (3), Jordan Foster (2), James Delaney (2), Tom Kaye, and Dominic Horn added tries with Ineson finishing with six goals and a twenty-four point haul.
