Leigh East were delighted to hear some more good news concerning young prop forward Connor Grainey who this week was named as one of the 21-strong Community Lions Youth squad.
The Lions will take on the best Europe has to offer in the Biennial Under 19s Championship in Italy between September 3-13.
His 18s coach, Stuart Pugsley led the tributes, "Since I came in, taking over the 18s, Connor has bought into everything we’ve tried to do. He’s worked hard from day one and led from the front." Pugsley said. "He's a Leigh East lad through and through, and it just goes to show that if you're prepared to push yourself and come out of your comfort zone then anything is possible. This is all of Connor's own doing. He’s just been pointed in the right direction and made his own path.
"To say we are all proud of him is a bit of an understatement. He’s done the club proud, his family proud and most of all himself.
"If this club can keep turning players out in the mold of this young man then we are going to be in a good place.
"Well done mate."
